Having your boss behave inappropriately towards you can be incredibly uncomfortable whether you are male or female.Whether they are behaving in a sexual or disrespectful manner it can be incredibly difficult to know what to do, they are your boss and whilst many people know they do not have to put up with that kind of behaviour, they do not want to cause trouble because they are worried that they will be fired.But there are things that you can do if your boss sends you inappropriate emails.
The first thing you will need to do is keep them, maintain a record of every email that your boss sends you, this means that should things escalate, you will have evidence that they have behaved in an inappropriate manner.
If you are going to approach anybody about this subject then the first person it needs to be is your boss.Going to someone else first will look like you are trying to spread gossip around the office and this could result in you getting fired.When you approach your boss about the subject, remain calm and try not to get upset about anything that has been said.Tell them that you have been getting these inappropriate emails from them and you really don't think it's right or funny, make it clear that you are serious and you will not tolerate any kind of negative behaviour.
If the emails continue, then you need to inform someone, human resources or the legal department will be able to deal with any queries that you might have.You can report your boss to the legal department, or to their boss.If they do something about your boss's behaviour then that is great, but if they don't, there are further steps that you can take to ensure that you are taken seriously.
Reporting your boss to an independent tribunal will mean that your concerns are heard in the presence of objective people, they have no attachment or loyalty to your company so they will be able to hear your case without bias.They may rule in your favour which could mean anything from your boss being dismissed to the company paying you compensation for sexual harassment.They may also rule in favour of your boss, which could mean that you are dismissed or have to pay for false allegations.
